Whether you're furnishing your first nursery, designing a bedroom with your teen, or just browsing for additional furniture pieces, the design experts at Bellini are here to help!

Useful Pointers for Designing Any Space

  • When you shop for the room, bring along a floor plan of the room with detailed measurements, including the doors and windows.
  • First choose the furniture color and style, then the linen. These items will provide a foundation for the room. Next, you can be creative in selecting coordinating accessories.
  • Mix both tall and wide furniture pieces. For example, an armoire will help balance a room with a low dresser.
  • Make it your own. Bellini's classic furniture pieces will complement any design theme--from whimsical to sporty to sophisticated. Use your imagination as you browse for bedding, lighting and accessories. At Bellini, you have access to a number of artists, designers and muralists who can bring your unique vision to life.
  • Shop early! Furniture, custom linen and accessories require lead time. Ordering in advance ensures that all of your items will be on-hand when you need them.
  • Have fun. The space that you design for your child will soon become a special environment where lifelong memories are created. Enjoy every moment!

The Nursery

Q: I'm pregnant! Exactly what do I need to create the perfect nursery?

A. The must-have items for the nursery include the crib, crib mattress, crib bedding, changing table, glider and at least six drawers of storage. After that, you might consider special touches such as an armoire, mirror, additional storage, toy box, lighting, wall hangings and other accessories.

As you shop for furniture pieces, consider colors and styles that will endure as your child grows. At Bellini, our changing tables convert to dressers and our cribs convert to toddler and full size beds. We also maintain long-standing furniture lines and wood finishes, allowing you to add additional pieces to the room over time.

Q: What features should I look for when shopping for the crib?

A. Your infant will spend approximately 70% of her time in the crib, therefore, when shopping for the crib, look for signs of safety, quality & durability.  All Bellini cribs are made of premium materials,  four mattress height settings, a storage drawer and JPMA Safety Certification. You will find numerous crib styles and finishes to suit your style and budget.

Q: How long will my child use the crib?

A. All Bellini cribs will safely sleep your child from birth to the age of 4. All models convert to toddler beds (for children 2 ½ - 4 years old, or 35+ inches tall, whichever comes first) and some models convert to full beds (ages 4+).

Q: The gender of my baby is going to be a surprise. How do I go about designing the nursery?

A. Choose a gender-neutral design (think greens, yellows or other neutrals), or pick two different designs and let your local Bellini take care of the rest. With your permission, we will obtain the gender information from your doctor and order the appropriate bedding and accessories from the list you provide. At Bellini, all client information is kept in the highest confidence. (We even use gender code words!)

Q: What are the latest trends in nursery design?

A. No item is too lavish for today's nursery! Popular nursery trends include unexpected details, such as hand-beaded crystal chandeliers and down-filled upholstered gliders & ottomans.  For boys, transportation, sports and safari themes are in demand. For girls, floral, ballet, & vintage prints are popular.

For a relaxed and causal feel, cottage-inspired details are popular in the nursery. Bellini's new French Cottage Furniture Collection offers cottage-inspired details with rustic charm, such as wainscoting, antiqued pewter drawer pulls and fluted feet.

Kids' Rooms

Q: My little one is growing up! How do I transition the nursery to a big kid's room?

A. The first "big kid" purchases you make will probably be a twin or full size bed, bed mattress, bedding, and night table. Need more storage? Consider a dresser, hutch, armoire, bookcase and toy box. Before long, your child will be given his/her very first homework assignment! Bellini offers several student desks (computer/pencil drawer), desk chairs and desk hutches.

As you shop for furniture pieces, consider colors and styles that will endure as your child grows. At Bellini, we maintain long-standing furniture lines and finishes, allowing you to add additional pieces to the room over time.

Q: What are the latest trends in kids' room design?

A. A vintage flair is popular in both boy's and girl's rooms. Bellini's Antique White furniture finish is well-liked among girls. "Antiquing" is a multiple-step finishing process that gives each furniture piece unique detail. Our rich Mahogany finish also lends a timeless appeal to both boys' and girls' rooms. Our newest addition, is our brand new color "Espresso".  It is a huge success as soon as it arrives in the stores showrooms!

Another popular trend among teens is color! Add life to any room with a combination of complementary and contrasting color. Think bright bedding, pillow shams and rugs. Next, add in colorful, one-of-kind accessories, such as model airplanes, beaded lampshades and wall art.
