A family picnic on a nice spring day is a great way to get out of the house and get some fresh air!
Keep it simple. Start with a good blanket. We like to use one with a waterproof backing, because the ground is often damp but any big blanket will do. http://www.amazon.com/Large-Multi-Purpose-Padded-Waterproof-Picnic/dp/B0029114AS/ref=sr_1_16?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1306797238&sr=1-16

Pack your food in something sturdy and choose something that will keep hot foods hot or cold foods cold. There is something very romantic about an old fashioned picnic basket, but in reality I like the cooler type back packs, or pull a-longs! http://www.amazon.com/Picnic-Ascot-Classic-Backpack-Blanket/dp/B001PSQOII/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1306797079&sr=8-11

Choose finger foods to keep things super easy. You may not need any utensils or plates for your finger foods, but be sure to bring some napkins for hand wiping. Packing a soapy washcloth to use on hands before eating is a good idea too.
Your yummy food can be simple sandwiches, or cheese and crackers or sushi picked up at the store. We like to bring a protein, complex carb and fruit, along with some beverages.
Consider bringing a Frisbee or a kite to keep the kids active and entertained, or story book for a more relaxing time outside.
Spring time is here and summer is just around the corner…great sunny days ahead for a picnic! Enjoy!
