Just the Two of You

The best day of the week is the day I spend with my grandson Max, just the two of us. We go to museums, play tennis, bowl and sometimes just stay at home to play board games and watch silly TV shows.

The years go by so quickly. Max and I have developed our own relationship. We talk about serious things and funny things and sad things and just any-things. We love to explore and marvel at new discoveries.

Just going to the bookstore is an adventure. Of course, we always walk away with a bag full of books to read together.

One of our favorite things to do is hangout at the Kidspace Museum. These hands-on educational places for kids are opening up all over the country. A delightful day full of discovering nature and having loads of fun. We have learned about butterflies, spiders, earthquakes, climate change, bees, archeological digs and so much more.

We also found our Natural History Museum and Science Museum a wealth of wonderment. Along with measuring ourselves next to a dinosaur leg, examining petrified dinosaur poop and holding a dinosaur egg, we have watched baby chicks emerging from eggs and sat in a rocket ship. You can even hold a tarantula in your hand or pet a snake if you are so inclined.

There are so many adventures we can guide our children through besides the local Chuck-e-Cheesy and Magic Mountains. Nature is magic too.

A hike in the mountains, a day at the beach searching for seashells, checking out the climbing structures at the local park, even a walk through your neighborhood are all great ways to enjoy your kids for free.

Be creative, have fun and take great photos for your family album.
