Fall in love with black & white

There are so many beautiful color combinations that I am loving right now, but I wanted to go back to the basic black & white. Some great finds to create your black & white nursery, and of course a soft pop of color. Use white and black fabrics for your bedding on a white or black crib to make the room really pop. You can also use very neutral colored bedding for a softer romantic feel. Add some major modern pop with an all black chandelier or damask rug. Your glider can be a solid color or match your bedding, such as this little castle glider. Ok, now add those soft colors in your artwork like this painting by oopsy daisy or wall letters by inspired by Venice. The Robot Connection

When I choose a theme for a room I become obsessed with finding the perfect room decor that brings it too life. Creating a robot room seemed so fun, so I wanted to see what fun accessories I could find to bring it all together. Start with a colorful robot rug that brings in so many fun colors into the room. Of course finding robot wall art is so fun, I love turquoise and orange together. Who would think there would be robot pillows, love it! The more, the better…. robot wall decals, take note of the bad robot vs. the love robot. Cardboard Sheek makes these awesome wall letters that can be customized to match any room theme. Grisaille…a great option for traditional and contemporary interiors.

Grisaille is a term for painting executed entirely in monochrome, usually in shades of gray or brown, particularly used in decoration to represent objects in relief. I have been searching for sources of grisaille in wallpaper. I think the whole classic concept mixed with contemporary color would be phenomenal. Here is what I found….of course it is English…

Strawberry Fields Nursery

New Arrivals is one of my favorite crib bedding companies and when I came across their “Strawberry Fields Nursery” set, well…I got inspired. I love to mix bold and soft feminine pieces in a room together. The lime green mirror is from Thomas & Vineshave and soft pink chandelier is from Jubilee Collection. The fun rug is a shaggy raggy in fuchsia which can be found at your local Bellini store. The custom made letter plaque is one of my favorites from My Adornables. The mobile was made by hand from a great etsy find, they will also do custom work to match your nursery. What nursery will not be complete with out a snuggle friend? I just love to decorate with stuffed animals, they pop color in a crib, on a glider or changing table.

Meet Catherine Hall, creator of Go Mama Go Designs

We are huge fans of Go Mama Go designs, the perfect alternative to the bumper. With a lot of new parents wanting something different and easier then your tie back bumpers, Go Mama Go designs created the “Wonder Bumpers”. Wonder Bumpers hug each crib rail with vertical padding, and is tightly wrapped which increases air flow. With safety as their first concern, the zipper zips from the bottom where the head of the zipper falls under the mattress and is inaccessible to your baby. They have several designs to choose from and now offer custom designs, which we love. We had the chance to chat with Catherine Hall, the master mind and mom behind the wonderful wonder bumpers.

1. What inspired you to create a perfect “alternative” to the bumper?

We were aware of the dangers of the traditional crib bumpers and the concern that parents had using them. Already in the industry, with the Snug & Tug Swaddling Blanket, we noticed parents frustrated in general with their bumper and then with safety hazards on top of that, parents were forgoing them all together. We did some product research and found no stylish alternatives truly addressed all the issues surrounding traditional crib bumpers.

2. Name 3 words that best describe the wonder bumpers?

Safe, Smart, and stylish

3. With such a busy schedule, how do you balance work, family, and me time?

Well, I am not going to lie, it is difficult to create a perfect balance with life, work and family. It’s always a work in progress. As the kids get older it gets slightly easier, but I believe as long as you are aware of your efforts to create a balance then you are in a good place!

4. Do you have any future plans you would like to share, maybe new products?

We are expanding our Wonder Bumper line to offer matching decor so parents can create a complete a beautiful and safe nursery!

Decorating with Picture Frames

I am a kid in a candy store when it comes to picture frames, there is nothing more exciting then decorating with color and the art of your favorite people. The above frames by Organic Bloom are my new obsession. The perfect frame to hang as a gallery in any room! We all have a pile of pictures we love and cherish but have not figured out what we want to do with them. Pick a wall and start creating a gallery of you, your family, your kids or your kids art work. I promise it will be your favorite part of the house.

Websites like etsy have several shops that offer vintage framing in custom colors so you can really get creative.

Create your own memory board or cork board by using some vintage frames like these.

Use picture frames that you love or have fabulous color and display on shelving.
