I’ve been preaching for years (15 years, to be exact)…”Don’t neglect the nursery ceiling.” Many will say that the ceiling is your “fifth wall” and should never be neglected. I tend to agree and rarely do I allow a plain white ceiling to appear in one of my designer nurseries. After all, a baby spends most of his or her time on his back looking at the ceiling so why not make it colorful and interesting.
However, we must be certain not to overwhelm the room and to give the eye a place to rest. With wall paper, chevron stripes, etc..becoming very popular on nursery walls, we also need to be sure that we don’t get too busy in the room either. If your baby’s walls have a decorative paper or stripe, then add a solid color to the ceilings. I recommend something other than white whenever possible. For example, if your walls are painted with stripes, take a color from the stripes and put on ceiling to accentuate, but not overwhelm the space.
