For some of us, including myself, going the modern way in a room is a bit challenging. Lately, it seems the trend in interior design seems to be going modern. I found some cute ways to add the modern look with out going the whole 9 yards.  For example, take a classic piece of furniture, such as the Bellini jessica dresser  and add turquoise crystal knobs.  The bold color mixed with the choc. brown adds that modern feel.

Still want to keep your classic or shabby chic styles furniture as is but want to add the modern look somewhere?  Not a problem, look to your accessories, lighting and colors.  The bolder the better and not distressed.  I thought this adorable bookshelf  from Dwell studios was the perfect touch.
