Meeting in the Woods by Oopsy Daisy

We’ve seen animal nursery themes throughout the generations with farm animals popular in the early 90’s, jungle and circus animals becoming very prevalent in the late 90’s, bunnies in the early 2000’s and jungle safari animal nurseries making a slight comeback in recent years. There’s just something sweet about featuring fuzzy little creatures in the nursery and many parents are drawn to such themes.

Lately, I’m spotting a different kind of animal taking the lead, and that is woodlands animals such as deer, fox, squirrels, raccoons and rabbits.

If you know me, you know that I’m not keen on designing a nursery that takes a theme to extremes. I don’t recommend giraffes on your bedding, curtains, rugs, light fixture and walls for example. Today’s nursery is frequently more sophisticated than those of past generations and is often designed to reflect the parents’ preferred design style. So do be cautious about overdoing it! Add just a few key elements such as canvas wall art and a toy or two to the room to give it an overall feel without getting too thematic.

With that in mind, check out these adorable woodland animal nursery items and think about how you might incorporate them into your own nursery to create a sweet retreat for you and your baby.
