Jodie Roth is the  founder and CEO of Butterscotch blankets, her passion to find something unique for her son’s nurseries is how she created the Butterscotch collection.  The collection is full of yummy and super soft blankets, hats, scarves and pillows.  They are custom designed and handcrafted, add initials, names and monograms for the perfect gift. We had the chance to chat with Jodie to find out what inspires her and how she creates one of our favorite blankets.

1. What everyday things inspire you to create new designs?

My designs are a direct result of everyday life such as flipping through magazines , walking through my favorite designer boutiques and looking at colors in bedding and stationary trends.

Fun, Sophisticated and unique

3. With such a busy schedule, how do you balance work, family, and me time?

I have 2 active boys but I enjoy what I do so its not work to me, its my passion.

4. What advise would you have for other mom inventors just trying to start their own dream company?

Follow your gut, your inner strength and if you believe in yourself you will succeed.

5. Do you have any future plans you would like to share, maybe new products or designs?

I am coming out with a line of sweaters dresses  in a knit fabric like my blankets and pillows.

1. What inspired you to create a perfect “alternative” to the bumper?

We were aware of the dangers of the traditional crib bumpers and the concern that parents had using them. Already in the industry, with the Snug & Tug Swaddling Blanket, we noticed parents frustrated in general with their bumper and then with safety hazards on top of that, parents were forgoing them all together. We did some product research and found no stylish alternatives truly addressed all the issues surrounding traditional crib bumpers.

Safe, Smart, and stylish

3. With such a busy schedule, how do you balance work, family, and me time?

Well, I am not going to lie, it is difficult to create a perfect balance with life, work and family. It’s always a work in progress. As the kids get older it gets slightly easier, but I believe as long as you are aware of your efforts to create a balance then you are in a good place!

4. Do you have any future plans you would like to share, maybe new products?

We are expanding our Wonder Bumper line to offer matching decor so parents can create a complete a beautiful and safe nursery!

Here our Sydney crib is dressed in their baby basic design in pink and cream.

We love it for a big boys rooms with our Jessica collection in espresso, mixed with blues and whites.  So fun for a nursery, choose any of our cribs in espresso or mahogany color.

One of Bellini’s favorite bedding designers is Annette Tatum, the creative mind behind the beautiful designs of House and Little House.  Annette started studying industrial and textile design at UCLA and in 1994 she started Annette Tatum Collections. You will always find her in her studio designing new collections and working on interior design projects.

By the time her secound daughter, Ella, was born, Little House designs were created.  She felt inspired  by childhood and being a new mom so she wanted the prints and patterns to embrace the innocence and personality of a child.

We were thrilled to be able to chat with Annette Tatum and hope you enjoy reading about her.

1. We know you founded your own collection in 1994, what inspired you to start designing baby and children’s bedding? I come from a textile background and had begun making apparel when I first started. Once I started having children nursery bedding was a natural.

2. Out of all of your collections, what is your favorite nursery collection? In our current line I still love Goa. I am a bohemian at heart. From the new collection I love the new Khaki Brocade. It is a colorway that has always been successful for us and I love the Brocade. It is classic.

3. With such a busy work day, how do you balance work, family, and me time? ”I am super organized by nature.. so that helps.” I am also always anticipating what is next. There are always the “curve” balls during the day.. but somehow it all manages to get done. I have learned that nothing is “perfect” and that is ok too.

4. Name 3 words that best describe Annette Tatum Collections?  “Classic, Sophisticated, and Inspiring.”

5. Do you have any future plans you would like to share, maybe new collections or new products? We are introducing our original brand “house” back into the market. “We also have paint, furniture and a new little house collection coming in Spring.” Our pajamas are also being re-introduced this January. “Lots of fun stuff happening.”

The Carly collection is our newest collection that features a vintage French flare. People are drawn to the details of the ribbon and floral carvings which adds the perfect romantic touch.

The french legs and the curved lines sets the Carly collection from all the other collections.  Adding decorative knobs always adds a personal touch and allows you to bring in specific colors to match your room decor.

Also this year, we helped Bethanny Frankel make her dream Safari Nursery come true.  Her nursery was so bright and cheery, she was thrilled when the nursery was complete.  She decided to go with our Alex crib, the Jessica 3 drawer 1 door, and our slide top all in the espresso finish.  Her glider was a yellow chenille corduroy by Dutailier and bedding from Gordonssbury.  For the finishing touches she went with the safari themed hand painted pictures from Renditions by Reesa, which she hung over the crib.

Our latest celebrity to shop Bellini is Adrienne Bosh, wife of Chris Bosh. Chris plays in the NBA for the Miami Heat.  They are so excited to be expecting their first child together, they are still in the design stage so we will keep you posted on what collection they go with.  We are so excited for them!
