The Royal Baby Buggy

posted by Patty No Comments

According to the Daily Mail, Kate Middleton has broken the royal tradition of stroller buying. Unlike royal babies past, Kate’s child will not be riding in a Silver Cross Pram. Instead the duchess, who is due in two months, purchased the above baby blue and black Bugaboo Cameleon for her unborn baby at John Lewis in London.

Bellini’s brand new Stella crib in pale pink and white looks all glammed up in grey and silver metallic tones.  New Arrival‘s Stella bedding set is appropriately named and coordinates so well.  Add silver tones in your hardware pieces such as lighting and mirrors.  Keep the lines of the furniture smooth and clean, I love to mix up the furniture.  The patterns in the wall art and rug keep the flow and softness that the bedding brings in.  All of these items can be found at Bellini.com

We fell in love with City Grips and had to include them on our Fabulous Finds for May.  If your a city mom or a mall mom, these are perfect to make it a more comfortable ride.  Have you ever asked yourself  ”These handle bar grips are so dirty. They’re falling apart. They’re so sticky. OMG what is growing on these? Which of those 10 identical strollers is mine?”  Well, that’s what founder of City Grips, Camie Gontier, kept asking herself. What we love is that City Grips are machine washable to keep all of the germs away.  What we love more is the fun patterns they come in.

Check in with our Facebook page later today for another awesome Monday Night Giveaway featuring City Grips!  Make sure your a fan and bring a friend.

About Deborah

Deborah Acquino is the owner of LotAspots, a company that sells children’s personalized accessories. Visit http://www.etsy.com/shop/candicenkatiesart to see the latest designs. She has 3 children and resides outside of Charleston, S.C. with her husband Chris and 2 dogs, Simon and Skippy.

My 2 year old comes into my studio everyday to peruse the merchandise. He is endlessly fascinated by MY long-handle paintbrushes, MY expansive collection of acrylic paints, MY heavy papers & oversized canvases. Turning the crank on the behemoth of an easel is also a favorite pastime. I’ve tried to redirect him to his smaller, tidier (and cheaper) kid-friendly art materials many times. But he scoffs at the age-appropriate, stain-free stuff made for little hands.

So I gave in and let him play with my “big kid” supplies….with supervision, of course.

Know what? The kid has it all figured out! He holds the brush well. He knows to rinse and blot it between colors. He has opinions on which colors he wants on the palette and makes it known! In short, crayola doesn’t do anything for him, but he’s a master with the right materials. Who knew?

Lesson learned. I need to give my kiddo more credit. He really does watch everything I do. Geez, no pressure there!

So now I’m enjoying the creative license he is taking when I give him a squirt or two of paint. I’m relieved to have found out that he’s ok mixing cheap craft paint with my good stuff. And we are even collaborating these days on some nifty watercolor backgrounds that I like to use in my illustrations. We paint together and then I scan and save our work digitally. He gets so excited when he sees it on the screen!

To watch him mimic me when I make a row of dots with my brush is just incredible. No words are needed. He just follows where I lead and vice versa. It’s awesome bonding time for us and pretty emotional to see something we created together and will have forever when we’re done. There’s nothing like it.

So go buy a big canvas and some long-handle brushes. Trust me. It’ll be great. Don’t worry of you feel clueless as to where to begin. Your toddler will know what to do.

Our latest love has arrived, the Stella Collection. We teamed up with Newport Cottages to design this modern collection , available in 5 yummy colors.  Gray/white, Pink/white, white, navy/white, chocolate brown/white.  The collection consists of 3 peices, crib bookcase, and dresser (with or with out changing tray).  The collection is benchmade from select hardwoods (poplar and birch) utilizing mortise and tenon joinery. Like all other Bellini collections the Stella Collection meets or exceeds all CPSC and ASTM standards.

The crib converts to a toddler bed with optional toddler guardrail.

The book case has 2  shelves  and 1 drawer, as well as anti-tip hardware. The drawers on the dresser and bookcase have full extension drawer glides.  They are also constructed of solid hardwoods.

These peices are only finished in non-toxic and low-VOC finish.  Want more?  Visit your Bellini store to see the collection  and other colorways.

Bellini’s Inspiration

posted by Tracy No Comments

We wanted to share what inspires us during our nursery design process and creating new collections.  We love rooms that have the “wow factor” with colors and textures. The unexpected accessories, colors, and fabrics in a room.

Unexpected color combinations! Blue and purple are so sweet together and we are completely in love with that chair, perfect for anytime reading.

When we worked on this room in our NYC showroom we wanted the blue and white to be bold.  We mixed furniture collections with tone on tone, added soft fabrics in the bassinet, and we made sure the lighting was over the top.

Little Cord Art is a unique way to display colorful art with the most special meaning.  It was thought up by parents Stephanie Duffy and Keith Duffy, who is a board-certified dermatologist and pathologist.  Little Cord Art creates one-of-kind wall art using a cross-section of your baby’s umbilical cord.  It is then stained to develop different color schemes and photographed through a microscope. The result is a very personal and conversation-worthy piece of art.

Did you know the umbilical cord is extraordinary because it is the only organ that two individuals—mom and baby—ever share? Wow!  Plus, since every cord’s cell structure is different, our art is truly one-of-a-kind.  After hearing about this concept, we needed to know more.  We had the chance to chat with Stephanie Duffy and find out what people are saying about Little Cord Art.

1. What inspired you to create this idea for wall art?

Keith and I made the first piece when our first child was born. When I was pregnant with our son in 2009, a routine ultrasound revealed that the umbilical cord had two blood vessels rather than the typical three—a condition that occurs in roughly 10% of pregnancies. Because Keith is a medical doctor with fellowship training in pathology, he was keen to look at the histology (microscopic study of tissue) of the cord after our son arrived. It looked beautiful and we made it into a canvas, which became a conversation piece in our home.

2.What 3 words describe Little Cord Art?

One-of-a-kind, meaningful, surprising.

We’d also say that Little Cord Art artworks represent the intersection of art, science, and the adventure of parenthood.

3. What do your customers say about their special artwork once they receive it.

Here are a few quotes:

“We really wanted unique artwork for our baby’s nursery and it doesn’t get any more unique than Little Cord Art! Plus, it is so meaningful and looks lovely.”

“We have received so many compliments on our daughter’s Little Cord Art. We love the color and texture that it brings to her room and know we’ll enjoy it for years to come.”

“After people get over their amazement at what the art is made from they always comment on its beauty. We’re so glad we captured one of life’s little miracles through Little Cord Art.”

“We love our prints from Little Cord Art–the colors, the subtle and intricate patterns, and most of all, the fact that it came from our baby.”

“The instructions for creating the art were clear, the process was smooth, and the images turned out even better than we expected.”

 4. Any future projects you are working on you would like to share?

As a new company (we launched the company almost a year ago) right now we’re focused on making Little Cord Art canvases that make our clients happy. And they’re fun for us to create because each one is different. But we enjoy exploring the blend of art and science so who knows what the future will bring.

Are in love with this concept yet?  Have a chance to win your very own Little Cord Art, join us tonight at 5:00 pm EST on our facbook page to find out the details.

Let light in, in style

The specific window treatment style you choose for your space can dramatically change the feel of your room.  Whether it’s adding color, length or layering the fabrics, there are many options for you.

Add design and color in the fabric!  Notice how soft and simple this room is with out the window fabric, adding the bold colorful fabric makes the room pop. I love what it does to a room.

Mix it up!  Your window treatments don’t have to match if they are different sized windows.

Bring your room theme through the windows.   Whether it’s a western or nautical theme you can have fun bringing in colors and patterns.  The raw hide fabric on the bed and window looks great in this room.

Trim it up. Add trim to a solid drape or blind so it coordinates with your bedding.   The market offers many beautiful trims, or use a fabric with pattern to boarder the edges.
